Opportunity Description:
The Smith Group from University of Waterloo’s Department of Chemistry invites applications from outstanding candidates to undertake MSc and PhD studies on solid state materials. Multiple positions are available, including (i) the fabrication and characterization of nanoparticulate solids and composite materials, (ii) analysis of catalytic reaction mechanisms, and the development of spectroscopic techniques to study mechanisms for (iii) solid-state reactions and (iv) reactions at solid-liquid interfaces. The successful applicants will have completed a BSc in Chemistry or a closely related field with good standing. They need not have direct research experience in the field, but require strong foundational knowledge in chemistry. They will be skilled in oral and written communication and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
