Award at a Glance
Purpose
To recognize outstanding contributions to chemical research in the industrial context. Significant creative contribution to chemistry in any field of chemical, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical, or biochemical research is appropriate.
Description
The award consists of $5,000 and a certificate. Up to $2,500 for travel expenses to the meeting at which the award will be presented will be reimbursed.
Eligibility
Any chemical researcher whose primary employer was industrial when the work was done and who was based in North America is eligible for the award. The award will be granted regardless of race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, presence of disabilities, and educational background.

November 1 (Presented Biennially in Even-Numbered Years)

History
Akzo Chemicals, Inc. established the award in 1989 and sponsored it until 2000. The ACS sponsored the award in 2001 and 2002. The ACS Division of Business Development and Management began sponsoring the award in 2003 and partnered with the Society of Chemical Manufactures and Affiliates, Inc. (SOCMA) from 2007 to 2010 to sponsor the award. ACS Division of Business Development and Management and the ACS sponsored the award in 2011. The ACS Division of Business Development and Management and the ACS Division of Industrial & Engineering Chemistry sponsored the award from 2012 to 2015. The ACS Division of Industrial & Engineering Chemistry began sponsoring this award in 2016.
