Kratom is a tree native to the northern states in peninsular Malaysia at the border of Thailand and it has been safely used in the traditional setting for centuries for the ability to stimulate laborers to endure harsh outdoor working conditions, to treat pain, to also wean opium addicts. In the United States, users are reporting similar benefits however, there have been multiple reports of harm including death associated with use. Why is there harm associated with use in the USA?
